Promote Literacy Amongst Girl Children

IWC Shillong observed World Literacy Day today which falls on the 8th of September by establishing a Book Bank for the Higher Secondary students of the school. A set of 4 textbooks for all six subjects of the humanities stream for each class(class 11and 12) was donated in the book bank for the most needy students.The books will be circulated amongst the needy students every year. A cheque of ₹3862/ only was handed over by the President IWC Shillong to the Principal of the school who procured the books for the book bank .The President along with other members inaugurated the book bank which is going to cater to the needy students and will help in the continuation of their ongoing studies. The teachers and the students of the school expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the kind gesture of the Innerwheel club of Shillong.This facility will promote literacy amongst girl children and minimise dropouts.
