Project Description :
We members of IWC Savvy all age 40+ decided to trek to Sandakphu which is at a height of 12,000 feet.
Sandakphu is a mountain peak in the Singalila Ridge on the border between India and Nepal. It is the highest point of the ridge and of the state of West Bengal, India.
It takes 3-4days to reach by trek. But we planned to complete the trek in 2 days by covering a distance of 13 kms on the 1st day of trek and 19 kms on the 2nd day and reached Sandakphu to see the beautiful snow covered Mt . Kanchenjunga peaks which looked like “sleeping Buddha’.
Though climbing altitudes is difficult and we too had to face some difficulties as the temperature at night used to be -1•C and was windy during daytime and we had to walk through rocky terrains which used to cause pain in knees and feet, but with the strong will power, we managed to sail through all difficulties and reach our final destination safely.
We even dug our club flag at Sandakphu as a memory forever.
It was a lifetime experience for all 5 of us and we could prove that we women can do anything possible with all our determination. We have proved that “Age is just a number.
We have also proved , The homemakers if they decide to put their foot forward, they can achieve anything and everything”.
