Project Goal – Upliftment of Rural dwellers
IWC Shillong adopted a village – Mawlehrei, housed by 50 families, on 28 November 2023,
with a purpose of uplifting it by assisting the village people in various capacities.
This was done in the presence of Madam DC, Smt Geeta Sarin.
Multiple Projects were undertaken in this village, in line with the targets and goals under
TRAILBLAZER.
Project 1. WOMEN’S HEALTH
Verticals: R, E, R
A Talk on women’s *Health and Hygiene* was delivered by member Dr Meena Sehdave.
Project 2. INSTALLATION OF SPIT-BIN
Verticals: B, Z, R
To promote cleanliness in the village, a spit-bin was installed and people were urged to use it
and keep outdoors clean.
Project 3. CLOTH BAGS DISTRIBUTION
Verticals: B, Z, R
Cloth bags were distributed to the village people and they were encouraged to discontinue the
use of plastic bags. This was done with a mission for zero waste.
Project 4. CARE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
Verticals: R, A
Care for the Elderly is our responsibility. A senior resident of the village was donated a
Walker for ease of movement.
Project 5. ADULT LITERACY
Verticals: I (IILM)
To promote Adult Literacy, the village adults were provided with books, notebooks and pens.
Educative posters were displayed in various prominent public places of the village.
Project 6. SKILL DEVELOPMENT FOR SELF SUSTAINABILITY
Verticals: R, L, E
To foster skill development among the village people and make them self-sustaining, free
training on Baking, Cooking and Stitching was organised in collaboration with Greta
Solutions. This would ensure future vocational strength.
Project 7. CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION
Verticals: R
Children’s Day was celebrated with the children of the adopted village Mawlehrei. Members
entertained children with games and distributed snacks and toys to each child.
Project 8. DISTRIBUTION OF CLOTHESVerticals: R
Regular and woollen clothes were distributed to all the families of the adopted village.
Project 9. DISTRIBUTION OF RATION AND OTHER EATABLES
Verticals: R
To further assist the village families,the following food items were distributed among the
people:-
• Rice -03 bags of 30 kgs each
• Daal -03 bags of 30 kgs each
• Chips -50 packets
• Hot Jalebis to all
_IWC Shillong shall regularly visit this adopted village and continue to work for the
betterment of the people there._
